Body Toning and Sculpting
Looking good and feeling good go hand in hand. At The Center for Plastic Surgery at Sentara Princess Anne, we offer several services to help you look your best. You can receive facial services as well as the latest body toning and sculpting treatments.
Freeze Fat With CoolSculpting
You may have stubborn areas of fat that stick around no matter how many sit-ups you do. CoolSculpting® is a nonsurgical, in-office treatment that targets those trouble spots. Your provider uses a controlled cooling device to freeze fat cells and eliminate them from your body — for good.
Unlike liposuction, CoolSculpting is not surgery. It’s also not a weight-loss procedure, though it can create a more sculpted shape. CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared for use in reducing visible fat in several areas:
- Abdomen
- Back
- Below the buttocks
- Love handles
- Thighs
- Under the bra line
- Under the chin and jawline
- Upper arm
Most people need at least two treatments to achieve their desired results. Each treatment takes one to three hours from start to finish. Sentara offers a new CoolSculpting device, the CoolSculpting Elite, which can treat two areas of the body at once. This reduces the overall time you spend in the office.
You may experience side effects from CoolSculpting, but typically, they are relatively minor and go away within a few days or weeks.
Possible side effects of CoolSculpting include:
- Intense cold, tingling, stinging or aching during the procedure
- Redness, blanching or mild bruising (redness may appear purple, gray or white on darker skin tones)
- Tingling and stinging
- Tenderness or aching
- Itching or skin sensitivity
- Lower lip weakness, dry mouth or tongue moving toward one side of the mouth (for CoolSculpting in the chin/jaw area)
Rarely, the treatment can cause side effects such as:
- Developing bulges or areas of enlarged tissue
- Pain
Firm Problem Spots With CoolTone
CoolTone® is a body contouring treatment that helps create a more sculpted physique. It’s recommended for people who are at their ideal weight but want more muscle definition.
During the procedure, a licensed aesthetician uses the FDA-cleared device to apply an electromagnetic current to your muscles. The current strengthens and tones abdominal muscles and can also help your buttocks and thighs appear firmer.
Possible side effects of CoolTone include:
- Muscle pain
- Temporary muscle spasms
- Joint or tendon pain lasting from a few hours to several days
- Skin redness
Most people need to have CoolTone four to eight times to achieve the sculpted look they want. After that, they may need a booster treatment once every three or four months to maintain the toned appearance.
