Cosmetic Body Procedures

Arm Lift
About Brachioplasty
If you have loose, sagging skin on your upper arms, you don’t have to keep it covered up. Consider an arm lift (Brachioplasty). An arm lift is a cosmetic procedure that can reshape your arms, giving you a sleeker silhouette. Your self-confidence can be improved along with your appearance. Our surgeons will discuss the details of arm lift surgery as well as your individual concerns during your personal consultation. In some cases, liposuction is done on the arms at the same time.

Body Lift
Body lift following weight loss
After losing a significant amount of weight through diet, exercise, and/or bariatric surgery, many people are left with excess skin that is uncomfortable for both functional and cosmetic reasons. Once the skin has been stretched out, it often will not retract with weight loss, leaving extra layers that get in the way of exercise and can cause rashes, back pain, and other problems.  In addition, that extra skin prevents clothes from fitting properly and keeps people from attaining the smooth body contour they’ve worked so hard to achieve.

Our surgeons have the skill and experience to remove the excess skin left after major weight loss, minimizing scars and freeing you to enjoy the benefits of all your hard work. They use a variety of procedures to remove tissue from the upper arms (brachioplasty), abdomen (panniculectomy), thighs (thigh lift), and even the entire trunk (trunk lift). This type of surgery can smooth and slim your body contour, improving your ability to enjoy and function in your new body.

Skin Cancer Reconstruction after Mohs Surgery
Mohs Surgery
Mohs micrographic surgery is a procedure for the removal of certain skin cancer types. Mohs surgery is performed by local, board-certified dermatologists, also known as “Mohs Surgeons,” who will layer-by-layer, remove skin cancers from the face and body. After the skin cancer has been removed, holes are left behind in the face and neck that typically require repair by plastic surgery.

Reconstruction of the Treated Areas
Once skin cancers have been removed by the Mohs technique, holes on the face, neck, and body are left behind – sometimes in areas critical for form and function. Reconstruction involves borrowing tissue from immediate or adjacent areas of the face to fill the hole left behind by skin cancer removal. Skin grafts can also be used for reconstruction.

Liposuction
Liposuction is a surgical procedure that slims and reshapes localized areas of the body. By removing excess fat deposits, liposuction can improve your body contours and proportion.

Patients who are close to their ideal weight and do not have serious medical conditions are ideal candidates for liposuction. It works best in areas with relatively good skin elasticity and muscle tone. It is usually used to help reshape the:

  • Thighs
  • Hips and buttocks
  • Abdomen and waist
  • Upper arms
  • Back
  • Inner Knee
  • Chest area
  • Cheeks, chin and neck
  • Calves and ankles

During your personal consultation, our surgeons will determine whether liposuction is right for you. They may also discuss whether you may benefit from using liposuction in conjunction with other procedures, such as facelift, breast reduction or a tummy tuck.

Body Scar Revision
While some body scars are discreet, others are more obvious and may affect your appearance. Although a scar cannot be erased completely, scar revision can minimize its appearance so that it is more consistent with the surrounding skin tone and texture.

Our surgeons are experienced in scar revision procedures and can help to provide a more pleasing cosmetic result or improve function.

Coolsculpting
CoolSculpting is reshaping the way people are thinking about cosmetic procedures.
This fat reduction treatment is an FDA-cleared procedure that uses controlled cooling to safely target and eliminate diet- and exercise-resistant fat. CoolSculpting results are proven, noticeable, and lasting, so you’ll look and feel great from every angle. The CoolSculpting fat-freezing procedure is completely non-surgical, so you can typically return to work and normal activities immediately.

The Science of CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting’s fat-freezing technology gives long-term results that make trouble spots a lot less troubling. These stubborn pockets may vary greatly from person to person because we all carry fat in different areas of our bodies. The number of fat cells is set during childhood and adolescence and varies little during adulthood.  Fat cells don’t like the cold and at a certain temperature, they will freeze. Its technical name is cryolipolysis, which is just a science-y way to say fat freezing. Our experts spent years developing the treatment, which features one-of-a-kind technology that quite literally freezes fat. Once that happens, your body will naturally eliminate the dead cells in 2-6 months or more, resulting in up to 20%-25% reduction of fat in a treated area.

What to Expect
Get prepped
Your provider will apply a clear gel pad to the treatment area. This creates a barrier between the cooling panel and your skin. Clinical trials have demonstrated CoolSculpting® to be safe and effective in reducing fat in certain areas.

Let science go to work
You’ll feel a slight sucking sensation as the applicator adheres to your body. During the procedure, you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site. These sensations subside as the area becomes numb.

And chill
During the treatment, you will be able to read, answer emails, or chat with a friend. After the applicator is detached, your provider will do a brief massage on the area to break up the treated fat cells and enhance the fat reduction. That’s it! Most patients experience little to no downtime after treatment. One treatment with CoolSculpting® reduces up to 20-25% of fat cells in the treated area. You may need more than one treatment to reach your desired results and get the most out of your CoolSculpting® experience.

For individuals with healthy eating habits and an active lifestyle, cryolipolysis is a safe and effective way to reduce excess fat. CoolSculpting® is not a weight-loss treatment. CoolSculpting® is for patients at or near their ideal body weight who want to reduce fat in one or more of the 9-FDA cleared treatment areas.

Fat Grafting
Fat grafting, also known as fat transfer, is a surgical procedure that involves harvesting excess fat from one area of the body and transferring it to another, more desirable location.

Fat grafting is helpful to smooth scar depressions, treat signs of aging, or augment specific areas of the body, including:

  • Breasts
  • Hips
  • Buttocks
  • Hands
  • Feet

During the procedure, our experts will begin with liposuction to remove excess fatty tissue in the desired area, such as the abdomen, hips and thighs. Once harvested, the fat is purified so it can be safely reintroduced into the body. Our surgeons will then inject this tissue into the targeted areas, resulting in a natural appearance in the re-contoured areas.

Mommy Makeover
There is no doubt that motherhood takes a toll on your body.
After a personal consultation to discuss your goals, our surgeons can help you develop a plan to address your areas of concern, most commonly the breasts, abdomen, waist and buttocks. There are many techniques that may be used, depending on your desired amount of restoration, placement of incisions, and the use of implants.
Among the procedures that may be involved are tummy tuck, breast lift, breast augmentation and liposuction. The ultimate goal is for you to feel beautiful again, with natural-looking results.

Thigh Lift
Thigh lift surgery reduces excess skin and fat in order to reshape the thighs. The result is smoother skin and better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body.

Our experts perform both inner thigh lifts and outer thigh and buttock lifts, depending on the area you would like to target. Sometimes, thigh lifts are done along with liposuction to allow for the removal of excess fat as well.

Tummy Tuck
About Abdominoplasty
You want to have “great abs” – but often, exercise and careful dietary habits aren’t enough to help you achieve that. Excess skin that remains after weight has been lost can result in both physical problems and cosmetic concerns. Abdominoplasty, or “tummy tuck,” removes excess abdominal skin as well as small amounts of lingering fat.

Patients choose to undergo abdominoplasty surgery for several reasons, including:

  • Excess abdominal skin following weight loss
  • Abdominal fat that is resistant to diet and exercise
  • Stretched stomach muscles from pregnancy

For many women who’ve gone through pregnancy, the abdominal muscles that separate to make room for a pregnant belly never fully come back together after childbirth. This condition, known as diastasis recti, results in bulging of the abdominal wall and muscle weakness, and can contribute to lower back pain as well as other problems associated with weak core muscles. Our surgeons are able to repair those muscles surgically, often combining that procedure with an abdominoplasty to remove excess skin at the same time.

During your personal consultation, our surgeons will discuss your concerns with you and explain the details of abdominoplasty and muscle repair surgery. There are several options to consider, including whether or not another body procedure, such as liposuction, should be performed at the same time.
