What is Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure commonly known as eyelid surgery. Surgeons typically perform this procedure in order to improve the appearance of the eyelids. In some cases, it can also help enhance vision by removing or repositioning excess skin, fat, and muscle from the upper and/or lower eyelids.
There are two main types of blepharoplasties:
- Upper Blepharoplasty: This procedure focuses on the upper eyelids. The surgeon makes incisions along the natural creases of the eyelids to remove excess skin and, if necessary, fat deposits. This can help create a more youthful and alert appearance.
- Lower Blepharoplasty: This procedure targets the lower eyelids. Incisions are typically made just below the lower lash line or inside the eyelid (transconjunctival approach) to remove or redistribute fat, improve puffiness, and tighten sagging skin.
